Navratri Day 5: Maa Skandamata

Navratri/Durga Pooja festival is a popular festival in India. The festival is dedicated to worship the deity Durga. The word meaning of Navratri is nine nights. It is celebrated all across India.
The fifth day of Navratri celebrations is dedicated to goddess Skandamata. The fifth manifestation is Devi Durga is known as Devi Skandamata She is the mother of the Lord Kartikeya is known as Lord Skanda and hence goddess Parvati is also known as Skandamata.
Goddess Skandamata rides the lion. She carries baby Kartikeya in her lap. She displays three eyes and four hands; two hands hold lotuses while the other two hand display defending and granting mudras, respectively. It’s said, by the mercy of Skandmata, even the fool becomes an ocean of knowledge. The goddess rules planet Budha (Jupiter).

 देवी स्कन्दमातायै नमः॥
Om Devi Skandamatayai Namah
 ह्रीम श्री स्कन्द माता दुर्गायै नमः|
